Ventosa to Cirueña
Another day in the La Rioja wine country. We walked through Najera and Azofra notching up our longest day yet at more than 15 miles. There has been a pilgrim hostel in Azofra since 1168. Evidence of Bronze age habitation has been found in the hills around Najera. Najera is also the location of a church and monastery built over a cave where a statue of the Virgen Mary was found in 1056.
